About Kristy
Kristy Sporrer, LCSW, LICSW — Licensed Clinical Psychotherapist in Florida and Massachusetts
Hi, and thank you for taking the time to read a little about me! I am a Licensed Clinical Psychotherapist, but even more importantly, I am a wife of 18 years and mother to three children. I am a strong believer and proponent of putting family first, and therefore spend most of my free time with them! We love family movie nights, listening to music together, and lazy weekend days with no actual plans.
I grew up in south Florida and knew from a young age that I wanted to work in mental health. I was a “peer counselor” in middle school and the passion was ignited and grew from there. I attended the University of Florida for my undergraduate studies, and Florida State University for my Master’s program.
I have had the privilege of working in a wide variety of mental health settings, including hospitals, non-profits, public schools, and private practices. I have worked with all ages, ranging from young children to older adults.
In addition to my passion for my work, I have so many other interests! I really love and appreciate great music. While I am not a musician myself, I grew up surrounded by musical family members, who really fostered a love for all types of music. I do have a number one favorite artist, though, whom I have seen in concert so many times I have lost count — Billy Joel! I believe music can be very therapeutic, reducing stress and enhancing our mood. I also love exercising and try to move my body in some way every day. Another great mood booster! Finally, I have a love and passion for snow skiing, something I took on in adulthood (non-skier who married a skier!) and fell in love quickly. As a Floridian, to spend time in the snowy mountains is truly special and I always feel a deep sense of gratitude when I am able to ski.
That’s a little about me. I look forward to getting to know you.

My Therapeutic Approach
I work from a Client-Centered and Strengths-Based approach, and incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) into my practice. To put that simply, I center our sessions on you/your needs, while focusing on your strengths, and help you recognize certain thinking patterns/habits to achieve your goals. I also incorporate Positive Psychology and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy into my practice as needed.
One of the most important determiners of success in therapy is the strength of the therapeutic relationship itself. It is important that you, the client, feel connected and comfortable with me to allow for honest and open communication. I want you to know I am as invested in your success as you are, and I am honored when a client chooses me to work with them to achieve their goals.
